Tulip Bowl

We are coming up on our 11th anniversary which is so CRAZY! Like most couples, Thomas and I got a lot of things for our wedding that we wanted to return. One of them was a tulip shaped salad bowl. This will date me, but when I got married it was really common to register at ZCMI for nice dishes. The tulip bowl was from ZCMI, and since I was registered I planned to exchange the bowl for other dishes I wanted. Anyway, when I went to return the tulip bowl, they told me it had been discontinued for over seven years. This brought new light to the concept of "re-gifting". I don't think there is any big deal in re-gifting something nice and unused occasionally, but Thomas and I had a pretty good laugh about the poor tulip bowl that apparently no one wanted. We wondered how many times it had been re-gifted and how many brides had opened the tulip bowl after their weddings. I decided not to re-gift the seven year old dish and eventually even started using it. Ironically, it became one of my favorite dishes! Today I reached to the back of the cupboard to get it out, and found it broken. I was even a little sad. Kinda weird how a dish can actually have memories.
