Easter Chicks
Thomas surprised us ALL with three baby chicks Easter morning. Just what I need--four rowdy kids, a great big dog and three chickens. Unfortunately, our home is actually zoned for up to five animals. Crap. I keep threatening to feed the chicks to the dog, but just can't bring myself to do it. They are currently residing in an open plastic tote in the garage until it warms up a bit. Then they will be moved to a chicken coop in the garden. Thomas assures me I will love the fresh eggs and the "bugless" garden. For some reason I don't believe it. One thing is for sure, I am not pulling feathers out of my chicken before I put it in the oven. I like my chicken boneless, skinned, and nicely waiting in the freezer section of the grocery store. I have to draw the line somewhere right? I thought that line had been drawn at no more animals, but I guess I was wrong. Pay backs are coming!!!

I'm lucky Nathan would never try that. I can't even imagine!!! Thomas is lucky to have a patient wife like you...
Tee hee...this sounds like when my brother brought home a baby duck to my parents' house because, "It's cool." My mom flipped. But it was actually a really cute duck, until it had an unfortunate end. Hope that doesn't happen to your chicks...maybe!
Wow. You have a regular farm over there!
I would love the chicks for their eggs, but I agree with you I would NOT be pulling feathers from the chicken I was going to eat! On the other hand Alan thinks it's awesome to have FRESH chicken, so Thomas and Alan can have a jolly good time eatin' it together!!
