Ice, Ice, Baby!

The WB Television Network's All-Star Winter TCA Party

Thomas and I went to the MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice concert in Orem this weekend. It was a blast! We felt really cool when we pulled up in our minivan and felt even more cool as we waited in line with about a thousand nineteen-year-olds. The line was moving so slowly that Thomas started joking around and turned to a large group behind us, stating that anyone who was actually alive in the 80's should get to go to the front of the line. The girl right next to us was like "Yeah if there is anyone here that old they should definitely get to go to the front." Hmmm. We were humbled even more when we asked this same girl how she knew MC Hammer's music and she stated that they were classics. Seriously, are we already old enough that bands from our teenage years are classics?

Once we got in, there was a DJ that played a ton of 80's songs while we waited for the show to start. They played New Kids on the Block, Will Smith's Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Milli Vanilli, and Boys 2 Men, just to name a few! People actually formed circles like you did back in the junior high dance days and would go into the center and dance their best running man or rodger rabbit while dressed in hammer pants, side ponies, big puffy bangs, and spandex. Talk about FLASHBACKS!!!!

Thomas and I didn't dress up, but we did push our way right up against the stage proving that we really are Too Legit To Quit. At the end of the concert, they started letting people go up on stage with Ice and Hammer who were singing some of Hammer's songs together. Thomas convinced one of the security guards to let him go up on stage. I couldn't go up but was relieved that the two guys next to us who were wearing hammer pants, no shirts, and reeked like BO went up on stage too! Despite the crowd, it was a really fun concert! Can't Touch This!

You should be flattered that Little Miss Nineteen didn't think you belonged in the category with anyone "That Old" who should be let up to the front of the line!!
